Tiredness or fatigue or lethargy is possible but not a common side effect of meropenem. Common side effects include: constipation; headache; mild diarrhea; mild pain, swelling, or redness at the injection site; and nausea.

It is advisable that you seek medical advice if you experience unusual tiredness or weakness, severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; unusual hoarseness); burning, numbness, or tingling; seizures; tremors or abnormal muscle movements.

      Hi da celeb,

Meropenem is an antibiotic ( a drug used to treat bacterial infections). In Kenya it is not commonly used and is usually reserved for certain types of bacterial infections not responding to the usual antibiotics. Meropenem is administered/ given through the veins.

The most common side effects include: nausea or vomiting; diarrhea or constipation; headache; or soreness, redness, or mild swelling at the injection site.

Other rare but serious side effects that require you to notify your doctor include: allergic reactions(difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives), seizures; severe or watery diarrhea; a skin rash; unusual tiredness or weakness; or unusual bleeding or bruising.

If you are on any treatment you should find out from your health provider what side effects to expect and report anything unusual that you experience while on treatment.
