Nasal congestion or “stuffy nose” occurs when nasal and adjacent tissues and blood vessels become swollen with excess fluid. Nasal congestion may or may not be accompanied by a runny nose. Nasal congestion can be caused by anything that irritates or inflames the nasal tissues. Infections — such as colds, flu or sinusitis — allergies and various irritants, such as tobacco smoke, may all cause a runny nose.
There are a few things you can do to relieve nasal congestion . Drink plenty of water because fluid helps thin nasal secretions. Try nasal saline sprays or rinses. If the runny nose is a persistent, watery discharge, particularly if accompanied by sneezing and itchy or watery eyes, your symptoms may be allergy-related, and an over-the-counter antihistamine may help. Be sure to follow the label instructions exactly. See your doctor if symptoms persist.

Hi da celeb,
Nasal congestion can be caused by anything that irritates or inflames(causes swelling) of the tissues of the nose.
These include:
• Infections — such as colds, flu or sinusitis
• Allergies and irritants- such as tobacco smokeIt is important to be reviewed by a health practitioner to identify the cause and treat appropriately, more so if you have the symptom frequently.

Hi da celeb,
Ideally one should be seen by a physician for proper management. But since you need to breathe before being seen, some home remedies may help. I list a few here which are intended to keep the nasal passages moist as a key strategy:
+Use a humidifier or vaporizer.
+Take long showers or breathe in steam from a pot of warm water.
+Drink lots of fluids.
+Use a nasal saline spray.
+Sit a warm, wet towel on your face.
+Prop yourself up. At night, lie on a couple of pillows. Keeping your head elevated may make breathing more comfortable.
