Not everyone infected with ebola dies. The fatality rate is around 50% but depends on the virus strain. The incubation period, that is, the time between the the moment the person became infected with the virus and the moment the person began to feel sick is usually 8 to 10 days, but it can span between 2 to 21 days. Recovery may begin between 7 and 14 days after first symptoms. Death, if it occurs, follows typically 6 to 16 days from first symptoms and is often due to low blood pressure from fluid loss.
After one is infected with Ebola it takes them 2 to 21 days to develop symptoms which include: Fever (hotness of body),severe headache, muscle pain, weakness/tiredness, diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pain and bleeding.
Death is usually to to severe dehydration/fluid loss that is as a result of some of the symptoms like frequent vomiting and diarrhea. Marta has stated above how soon it takes one to die or recover from Ebola.
There is no known treatment but not everyone who gets Ebola dies; 25% to 90% of those infected die. Supportive care, especially fluid replacement therapy(includes giving fluids using a drip in the veins) improves the chances of survival.
An experimental Ebola vaccine that was tested during the West African Ebola outbreak was found to protect people from getting infected with Ebola.
