Various insects have been found to transmit a number of diseases which can be dangerous (lead to illness or even death in some cases).
Examples of these insects and the diseases that they transmit include:
• mosquitoes – malaria, chikungunya virus, dengue fever, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, lymphatic filariasis.
• tsetse flies- sleeping sickness
• sand flies – leishmaniasis
• Lice- relapsing fever, typhus, plague
• Ticks – tick-borne relapsing fever, Q fever, the tick-borne spotted fevers, tularemia
